Alright guys lots of people need help, into getting Dreamscene to work.

1. Check if you have Windows Vista Ultimate edition or another edition such as Home Premium or Business

(2 is if ultimate only)
2. Go on Windows Update and let it find the Ultimate Extra Download called Windows Dreamscene, and install that(you may be required to restart computer)

3. After Installation, go to Control Panel-->Add/Remove Program--> Then on the side choose Turn Windows Features On or Off--> From there scroll to the bottom of the page until you reach ultimate extras, and make sure that Dreamscene is checked. If it is go straight to number 4, if it isn't check it, wait, then go to step 4

4. After turning the feature on you may be asked to restart again but i doubt you will. Go on your desktop and right click on it, and there should be an extra column called Play Dreamscene, to use it, go to personalize and then Desktop Background and on the drop down menu, choose Windows Dreamscene, and your set

For Stardock Dreams, you need to download Deskscapes 1.2 (2.0 if non-ultimate edition), but YOU NEED DREAMSCENE INSTALLED, and once installed, download any dream from wincustomize and save it to your dream folder which should be in My Documents, and then do the same in step 4, right click and go to Personalize, and then choose a background by chooseing not dreamscene, but Deskscapes Animated Wallpaper.

Ok Guys i think That'll do, anyone who needs more help, can send me a PM, or post it in the support section.

Thank-You

VistaDreams Team!

I had both Dream Scenes and Deskscapes working well a short time ago. But then I had to strip my hard drive and reinstall all the programs. I've updated Vista Ultimate to SP1 and now find that 1/4 of my Deskscapes don't work. The others work fine. And none of the Dreamscenes work. I've uninstalled both Dreamscenes and Deskscapes and reinstalled them, but to no avail. There must be some crucial thing that I'm not doing. Any help would be appreciated since these are one of the reasons I upgraded to Vista to begin with.
Thanks,
BNelson

Don't work how? Can you give an example of one that works and one that does not?

Did you install Nero or a codec pack? Some dreams use MPEG2 and both Nero and some codec packs install there own MPEG2 decoder and sometimes mess things up.

If you give us a specific example of one that does/does not work from this site we could see if it's WMV or MPG and then guide you to install the appropriate codec for that dream style.

I have Nero 8 installed as well as numerous other codecs. After running InstalledCodec it shows a total of 310 different codecs for different file types. I'm not sure where all of them came from or how they might be interacting.
All of the Windows Dreamscene files don't work, and a number of Deskscape files. (Catch A Wave, Flow, Ice Tunnel, Ocean Spray, The Vineyard, Twisted). Other new ones that I've tried to download don't work either. What next???

I'd suggest you try installing this pack: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Vi...c-Package.shtml

Is there a problem with having to many codecs installed? I'm not all that familiar with them, but after running a program that tells me which are running, I find over 300 that are. Do they work independently of one another, or are they all interferring with one another?

They should work independently. There are many formats of audio and video which is why you have hundreds. Can you play .MPEG files and .WMV files in windows media player? As far as I know having two MPEG codec's doesn't cause a problem, it's just the most recently installed one becomes the default layer.
